USMC customized engraving

$350.00Price

This listing allows you to personlize your USMC derby cover.  I can engrave whatever you would like.  The time you served and ranking can be engraved on this cover and mounted on your Harley.  The software I use to post the tool paths, also shows a 3D image of what the part would look like machined.  Before I machine the cover in my CNC machine, we can view a simulation.

There are several different types of covers for Harley Davidson motorcycle through out the years and models.  Please read the explanation below and use my pictures to help select the covers that fit your bike.

POINT COVER:

Most Harley Davidson motorcycle have either a 2 bolt or a 5 bolt point cover.  This holds true for Sportster and Big Twin motors.  The Milwaukie motor has a 2 bolt ignition cover that is smaller and measures 2 1/2" in diameter.  This option is listed as 2 bolt for M8.

DERBY COVER:

If your Harley Davidson big twin has a 3 bolt, or Sportster has either a 4 bolt, or 6 bolt derby cover, then you can select the applicable cover.  If your big twin has a 5 bolt derby cover you will need to measure the outside diameter.  There are 3 sizes to choose from.  One is way smaller then the rest at 6 1/4".  This proves to be a little tricky to measure because the face of the derby cover is domed.  It is best to remove your derby cover and measure the back face that is the flat gasket surface side.  Another method would be to cut a 7 ¼” & 7 ¾” circle out from some thin cardboard.  This will allow you to hold the cut out around the derby cover to compare the 2 diameters and determine what will fit your bike.  There is also an additional charge for a gasket that will come with the 7 1/4" & 7 3/4".

Any questions, contact me. I am always happy to help out.

Choose the options in the drop down window to further customize your covers.  Select fitment to your bike, and also finishing options.  Your cover can have a textured finish around your logo or a smooth finish.  You can also add paint details to your engraved lettering ro air brush work.

  • INSTALLATION

All of my derby covers use a gasket.  See the picture of the gasket as a reference.  If your old derby cover used an o-ring, you can omit that and replace it with a gasket.

While removing Your old derby cover, keep the bike upright and not on the kickstand.  This will eliminate oil dumping out from the primary.

Use button head allen screws with your new cover.  See the pictures for derby cover hardware.  You can buy these chromed from your local bike shop. Your stock hardware may or may not fit my custom covers.

Like any custom part, always dry fit your cover. Before you mount your derby cover screws, squeeze the clutch lever and make sure the cover remains flat on the gasket surface.  If the cover is rocking while the clutch is disengaged, you can not complete the assembly.  I have had this happen only once.  It turned out the clutch adjuster was backed way out.  When things where adjusted properly, everything went together and worked out great.  See the picture of the clutch adjustment screw sticking out to far.
